Lisa B. Boardwine is a painter who works in oil/cold wax, and acrylic/mixed media. Lisa is a Signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, and a Signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society. She is an instructor for workshops and art retreats in oil/cold wax and acrylic/mixed media painting. One of Lisa’s favorite sayings to her students is “Create a history, provide some mystery, and make your mark!”
Essential to the language of Lisa’s painting is the layering of textures, marks, and color to create a history of surface. These surfaces contain the essence of special places and captured memories, both near and far. Travels to Italy and exposure to the sensibility of the eroding nature of ancient architecture and the stories embedded within, have influenced her work.
Lisa has published two keepsake books- “Layers, Marks, History-Selected Paintings in Oil/Cold Wax” and “Inspiration, Intuition, Image”. She has been a featured artist in the books - “Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations”, “Wabi Sabi-Cold Wax Painting, “Journeys into Abstraction”, and in 2 e-books, Volume 4 and 6- “A Walk into Abstracts-How did They Do That?”.
Lisa has also been featured in the magazine publications – Art Galleries & Artists of the South, The Woven Tale Press and A! Magazine for the Arts.
Lisa owns Golden Palette Gallery/Studio, a custom frame shop and gallery.
She is represented by several galleries and arts centers and has work included in various collections-private and corporate, both nationally and internationally.
